Phelim passed in his 88th year and was originally from Ballyjamesduff but spent a lifetime living in Kilmainhamwood, where he had owned a public house and a grocery store. He had also been an undertaker, while supporting local clubs and sporting events that took place in the area. He is survived by his wife Imelda, sons Dominick, David and John and daughters Mary, Patricia, Carmel, Joyce, Doreen, Brona and Geraldine. His funeral mass took place in the Church of the Sacred Heart on March 13th.
