Cuthbert gets Cork gig

Brian Cuthbert
The search for a replacement for Conor Counihan as Cork senior football manager has ended with Brian Cuthbert been given a two year term.
The Bishopstown clubman's appointment got the seal of approval from club delegates at last night's County Board meeting.
A primary school principal, Cuthbert acted a selector with Counihan this year after making a name for himself in coaching with the Cork minor, Cork IT and Bishopstown teams.
He guided the county U-18s to the 2010 All-Ireland minor final which they lost to Tyrone.
He is also chairman of Cork GAA's Development Squad Management Committee and was the choice of the six-man committee set up to find a successor for Counihan.
Captaining the Rebel County to All-Ireland minor glory in 1993 was the highlight of his playing career.
The new boss will appoint his own selectors in due course.
Meanwhile, Newcetown's Pat Kenneally will step up from the minor hurlers to take over from Ger Fitzgerald as Cork U-21 hurling manager. His backroom team will consist of John Hodgins (coach) and selectors Alan Brown, Damien Irwin and Ger O'Halloran.
A new minor manager will be appointed at a later date.
