Rockchapel boss pays tribute to Murphy
November 09, 2012
Rockchapel manager Tom Doody hailed the impact made by William Murphy in last Sunday's Cork JFC 'A' final replay victory over Kilmurry at Pairc Ui Rinn.
Having missed Rockchapel's previous four games through injury, Murphy came off the bench in the second half to set up Seamus Hickey for the game's only goal.
"William is one of our best players and unfortunately missed out due to injury," Doody said in The Corkman.
"All week, we kept it quite that William had a chance of playing. There was a good 20 minutes in him and we weren't going to spare him."
Doody admitted that Rockchapel had learned a lot from the drawn encounter.
"We watched the DVD and saw that we kicked 15 wides. That never happened previously to Rockchapel this season. We decided to get our passes right and play as a team rather than as individuals. We got the goal at a good time and our heads were up."
