The Cork ladies footballers have suffered another blow with the news that Róisín Phelan has called time on her inter-county career.

The defender, who won five All-Ireland senior medals between 2012 and ’16 as well as an All-Star in 2018, follows sisters Ciara and Doireann O’Sullivan into retirement. The retirements come as the once-mighty Rebels face a battle to retain their Lidl National League Division 1 status after picking up just one win from five.

”An incredible servant to Cork, Roísín was one of the very best defenders in the business and we wish her well in inter-county retirement,” the LGFA said in a statement.
