Cork's 2016 All-Ireland winning captain Ciara O'Sullivan has retired from inter-county football.

O'Sullivan played senior football for Cork for over 16 years and her magnificent list of achievements with the Rebelettes includes eight All-Ireland SFC titles and five All-Star awards.

Speaking about her decision to retire, the Mourneabbey star told the EchoLive.ie: "I’ve made great friends and have amazing memories from my time with Cork but all good things must come to an end.

"I’m looking forward to focusing fully on club football now and to shouting the Cork girls on from the other side of the wire going forward."

Her younger sister Doireann has also decided to hang up the boots at inter-county level having won five All-Ireland senior medals and an All-Star in 2018.
