Aaron Myers struck a dozen points as Sarsfields triumphed to their first Cork senior hurling championship title in nine years with a 0-21 to 0-19 win against Midleton this afternoon.
The Glanmire men’s strong finish at Pairc Ui Chaoimh was what won it in the end, clinching a seventh Sean Og Murphy Cup in their history.
Midleton looked had looked the more likely side at the halfway stage, leading 0-13 to 0-9 when the sides went in, but Sars made a decent start to the second-half that saw points from Myers, Daniel Hogan and Colm McCarthy flying over.
They’d take the lead before Cormac Beausang levelled it at 0-16 apiece for Midleton, but it was three more from the deadly Meyers and a Cathal McCarthy point that helped ensure Sarsfields’ success.
Next up for the Glanmire side is a date with Ballygunner in the Munster club SHC at Walsh Park, Waterford on November 5th.
