Holders beaten in Harty Cup opener

The TUS Dr Harty Cup (Munster U19 'A' Schools Hurling Championship) got underway yesterday with holders Cashel Community School losing by a point, 0-20 to 1-18, to Cork’s Gaelcholáiste Mhuire in Ballyea.

Last year's runners-up Thurles CBS opened their campaign with a 1-15 to 0-13 victory over St Colman's, Fermoy, while Nenagh CBS were 1-13 to 0-9 winners over Charleville CBS in Meelick.

Another eye-catching result was Limerick side Ardscoil Rís' 0-14 to 0-8 win over St Flannan's in Sixmilebridge.
