Dublin footballer Ciaran Kilkenny and Limerick hurler Gearoid Hegarty are among six nominees for the RTÉ 2020 Sportsperson of the Year award.
They are joined on the list by champion flat jockey Colin Keane, undefeated world lightweight boxer Katie Taylor, Tour de France green jersey winner Sam Bennett and double European rowing champion Sanita Puspure.
Castleknock clubman Kilkenny helped inspire Dublin to a stunning sixth successive All-Ireland SFC title last month, scoring 1-20 from play across five championship outings.
Hegarty was Limerick's outstanding performer as they reclaimed the Liam MacCarthy Cup and capped off an impressive season with a man-of-the match display in the All-Ireland SHC final.
RTÉ has confirmed that the RTÉ Sport awards will take place on Thursday, 28 January, broadcast on RTÉ One and presented by Joanne Cantwell and Darragh Maloney.
The nominees for RTÉ Sport Young Sportsperson of the Year, RTÉ Sport Manager of the Year and RTÉ Sport Team of the Year will be announced at a later date.
