If I'm honest. .its the one I wanted.

In another thread I listed 3 goals for the year. .

Retain ulster (or at least challenge again)
Beat Tyrone

Its the last bit of unfinished business for this team in the ulster championship and i think Mickey will hold it up as that to the lads.

Like you say, should be a cracker!

I'm delighted with that draw for Cavan. I know we've said it all before but it's time we beat Tyrone in a championship match and this is the perfect time to get them. Win and we'll be brimming with confidence.

Great chance to get another monkey off our back and beat Tyrone for first time in a long time. If we can beat Donegal we can beat Tyrone

Gonna have to beat Tyrone at some point. Why not now? No crowds when we're away, so they'll not have that factor. New dual managers too and they'll not have many games to figure things out. We've proven we can play to this level, have confidence and the talent, and have a shrewd manager who can plan and prepare. They're the only team we haven't beaten in Ulster recently, so bring them on. Be the best by playing the best

Tough game to start with this year after the handy first round last year.Tyrone are not the team of old. If Cavan get the mindset right they will be half way there. Cavan should have a stronger panel this time around with a few fresh faces. I think the Full forward line needs new blood. A few lads were tried in the corners but inexperience told. Hopefully the extra year will help. Cavan should relish playing Tyrone. These are the games these young lads want to play. Go out and play with no fear. Sometimes in latter years we were beaten before we went out. Not this year cos the confidence will be sky high.

Great to have a football focal point to look forward to again and great to see the positive reaction to drawing Tyrone. This will push the players and mgnt to max effort from the get-go, knowing that we need to beat Tyrone in a championship match to make progress this year. A great opportunity to bury some ghosts of the past and get on another run.

Do we know if there are any changes to the panel at this early stage?

Heard there was a few new lads in, like Sean McEvoy, Paddy Lynch, and Caoimhin McGovern. Working with a panel of 39, with around 7 keeping up at a level as standby to come in for injuries etc.

Will club championship start the week after the game or will there be a weeks break?

Pleased with the draw.

Tyrone are the last remaining obstacle we must overcome to call ourselves the undisputed hegemons in Ulster. I can't even recall the last time we beat them.

Hopefully we'll have McVeety back again this year and up to speed. Remarkable to think what we achieved without him last year, so there's every reason to believe we'll be even stronger with him back.

Really looking forward to a bit of GAA action this Summer now.

What makes you think McVeety is back? Last I seen was on twitter and he was still in Australia. I think the same with Moynagh. Its a shame as both would be huge additions to an already strong panel.

so the squad isn't picked on current form, or even the previous years form but on past reputations

Did I say that?

But if you would like my opinion on that, McVeety and Moynagh played county level with senior team for 7 years I reckon and took a deserved time out. If I were Mickey I would invite them in providing they could hit the fitness test targets etc. If not they would have to leave. Same as was said to Killian Clarke last year. The two boys ability and dedication is not in doubt in my opinion.

Yes with a player of the calibre of McVetty if he was available and up to speed fitness wise it would be foolish to not have him involved.
