Walking group

Our walking group returns this week as the evenings draw in. The group will meet at 8pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the pitch in Ballyjamesduff to walk under the lights and Sunday mornings at 10am at Castlerahan Community Pitch. If you'd like to sign up, social membership of €20 applies. More details from Noel Barkey on (086) 837 0930.

Our senior team will meet Killygarry in a replay of the quarter-final of the championship after the teams recorded a draw on Sunday afternoon last, in poor conditions in Crosskeys. Full-time scoreline: Castlerahan 1-7 to 1-7 Killygarry. The replay has been fixed for Sunday at 4:45pm in Kingspan Breffni. All support welcome and appreciated.

Our U17s were unfortunately defeated by Knockbride in the semi-final of the Division 3 championship on Sunday afternoon last on a scoreline of 4-11 to 1-11. Hard luck to the lads and their management team of Fiachra Sweeney, Ferdia Sweeney, Ciaran Doherty and Johnny Crafford after they all put in a tremendous effort during this championship campaign and, indeed, throughout the season.

Our U15s qualified for the semi-final of the championship with a 5-15 to 2-12 victory over St. Finbarr's, after extra-time in the playoff, last Tuesday evening. They will meet Drumgoon in the semi-final on Thursday at 6:30pm in Drumalee. Note change of venue from Stradone.

Our U13 Division 2 team were defeated by Ramor in round 3 of the championship on Thursday evening last. Full-time scoreline: Castlerahan 5-7 to 4-16 Ramor United. Next up is Ballyhaise in round 4 at home on Saturday at 2pm.

Our Division 5 team were defeated by Killygarry on Sunday afternoon in Ballyjamesduff. Full-time scoreline: Castlerahan 2-4 to 6-6 Killygarry. This team will travel to Bailieborough for round 3 on Sunday, 29 September for a 12 noon throw-in.

A team of players at U12 level participated in a tournament organised by Granard GFC on Saturday afternoon last. The boys reached the cup final but were unfortunately defeated by the host team.
