County final
Sunday, 21 October 2018 is a day that will live long in the memory of the people of Castlerahan and Ballyjamesduff as our team secured the club's first senior championship title. The day started as the ladies of Castlerahan-Denn club provided a 'Big Breakfast' in St. Joseph's Hall - an event that brought the whole community together and allowed everybody to savour the build up to the big match. Complimentary face painting was provided for children. Thank you to the organising committee and helpers for all of their hard work.
The scenes of relief, joy and jubilation on the pitch in Kingspan Breffni were matched only by the spine tingling reception the team received as they edged their way by convoy through the streets of Ballyjamesduff. Accompanied by a bagpiper back into town the team ascended the stage to rapturous applause and excitement and it truly was a sight to behold looking out upon the hundreds of happy faces on Market Street.
A massive thank you to the team of committed club volunteers who mobilised so quickly after the final whistle to organise barriers, stewarding, the stage, music and decorations and made the occasion safe and enjoyable for all. Thank you to Ian Branch and Michael Thomas McBreen for a perfect firework display to aptly bring the function to a close.
Thanks to everybody for their messages of good luck and congratulations, not just from within our own club, but from other clubs across Cavan and further afield and from the many Castlerahan and Ballyjamesduff people living across the world. It was much appreciated.
Thank you to our brilliant supporters who, when things were looking bleak mid-way through the second half, didn't doubt the resolve and drive of our players and helped spur them across the line at the end.
Thank you to the staff and students of St. Clare's national and secondary schools, St. Mary's national school and Virginia College for their warm receptions last week. It was an experience thoroughly enjoyed by the players in attendance, seeing the delight on the faces of the younger children in particular.
Thank you to the community in Castlerahan for their warm welcome and reception on Satruday evening last - another occasion enjoyed by all in attendance.
Finally, thank you to our senior team and management. You have shown remarkable resolve to come back from the disappointment of previous county final defeats to give us a day many of us will never forget. We are happy. Elated. Relieved. Grateful. But 'proud' is the word that best describes it!

U7s and U9s
Our U7s' and U9s' seasons drew to a close on Saturday morning last in Fay Park with a training session which was attended by some members of the senior double winning team. The lads handed out a football to each child registered which was kindly provided by McEvoy's SuperValu in Virginia as part of their 'Behind the Ball' initiative. Thank you to everybody who placed tokens in the Castlerahan box in the store. Thanks to all the coaches and mentors who gave freely of their time over the year to ensure that training and blitzes were enjoyable for all the children participating.
