Horan tips Mayo 'to fight for every second'

Former Mayo manager James Horan believes his former charges can bring their performance to peak levels in Sunday's All-Ireland SFC final.

Writing in his column in today's Irish Daily Star, the Ballintubber clubman tipped the Westeners to defy 3/1 odds and topple Dublin at Croke Park with Sam Maguire on the line.

"Mayo need to bring as much intensity and aggression as they can get out of themselves," Horan wrote.

"They have to get Dublin to play in a way that they're not used to. What we don't want to see is an early flurry from Stephen Rochford's men, with Dublin then taking over, setting the tempo, and Mayo accepting that.

"Mayo have to fight for every second of the 70 plus minutes."

On the players Mayo can use off the bench, he added: "Tom Parsons and Barry Moran have been used from the bench in different games, Chris Barrett is there, Evan Regan can give you something too.

"Most of these Mayo players have been around the block. I think they'll grab their chance on Sunday. Mayo to win."
