Bureaucracy gone mad...

A family in Kerry is facing a possible €12 million fine or two years' imprisonment if they don't remove a sign on their land declaring their support for the Kingdom.

The Moloney family in Moyvane were shocked when they received an enforcement notice from Kerry County Council, with planners ordering them to remove the simple "Kerry for Sam" sign as it is an 'unauthorised development'.

However, the family has vowed to fight the enforcement notice on the grounds that none of the letters they received from the local authority bear the name of any official with any legibility.

"It's very upsetting for us, it's only 26" by 18" on a pole that's only five feet high," Billy Moloney told the Kerryman.

"You can't make out the signature and it only says staff officer in print underneath. As far as we're concerned they are hiding behind these letters and we're very upset by the treatment."
