Heslin left out of Westmeath line-up

Westmeath's John Heslin
Westmeath's Aussie Rules-bound John Heslin has been omitted from the county U21 side for Wednesday night's Leinster semi-final against Longford.

Heslin, who has just returned from successful trials Down Under, is available for selection after the end of four-week suspension following a red card during Westmeath's Allianz National League game against Cavan last month.

But the teenage midfield ace, who shone in UCD's journey to the Sigerson Cup semi-final during his inter-county ban, is not included in Pat Flanagan's starting line-up for the game against Longford at Pairc Tailteann.

The side announced today is the same as that which started against Offaly two weeks ago, with Darragh Daly and David Keenan again paired in the centre of the park.

Conor Lynam has been the driving force in Heslin's absence from the U21s' earlier fixtures, scoring five points from play in each of his side's games to date against Laois and Offaly.

Throw-in at the Navan venue on Wednesday night is at 7.45pm.

Westmeath (U21FC v Longford): Eoin Carberry; Ben Moran, Kieran Sheridan, Kevin Maguire; Mark McCallum, Kieran Martin, James Dolan; David Keenan, Darragh Daly; Adam Corroon, Conor Lynam, Ger Egan; Ian Coffey, Callum McCormack, Tommy McDaniel.
