Edendork (Tyrone) moved into the Ulster club senior football quarter-finals with a 0-17 to 0-12 win over Clonduff (Down) in Newry this evening.

Darren McCurry starred for the Tyrone champions with 0-8 over the hour while ‘keeper Niall Morgan added two two-pointers (one from play), as they set-up a date with St Brigid’s of Antrim on Sunday week.

Having claimed their club's first Tyrone SFC title a week ago, Brian McGuckin's men made a strong start and took control with some excellent scoring. McCurry opened his account early before landing a two-pointer in the eighth minute to put his side three points clear.

Clonduff responded through Barry O'Hagan and Stephen McConville, but Morgan restored Edendork's advantage with a superb two-pointer from play in the 14th minute. Further scores from McCurry and Fiachra Nelis helped the visitors build momentum, while Morgan added a long-range two-point free in the 28th minute.

Stephen McConville converted a two-point free with the final kick of the half to leave Edendork leading 0-10 to 0-6 at the break.

Clonduff, making their first Ulster appearance since 2000, battled hard after the restart but struggled to close the gap as Edendork maintained their scoring advantage, adding seven points to the Down champions' six in the second-half.

McGuckin's side held firm to secure a five-point victory and continue their remarkable championship campaign, with a quarter-final meeting against St Brigid's now awaiting them.
