Newtown Blues and St Mochta’s must do it all again after a dramatic 1-15 apiece draw in the Louth senior football championship final at the Integral GAA Grounds in Drogheda.
Emmett Carolan’s goal and a stunning Conor MacCriosta two-pointer helped the Blues build a five-point second-half lead, with Ross Nally also influential.
However, St Mochta’s battled back through Declan Byrne, who landed eight second-half frees, including a crucial two-pointer in added time to level the contest.
Ciaran Downey had a late two-point free to win it for the Blues, but his effort fell short, setting up a replay next Saturday at the Gaelic Grounds.
The Tyrone senior football championship final is also set for a replay after Darren McCurry’s last-gasp two-pointer ensured that Edendork and Errigal Ciaran finished all square at Healy Park (0-15 to 1-12).
Errigal led 0-6 to 0-3 at half-time despite registering nine wides, with Aodhan Quinn contributing two impressive two-pointers.
Fiachra Nelis netted for Edendork after the restart, but Errigal responded through Quinn and Peter Harte before Eoin Kelly edged them ahead late on.
McCurry’s dramatic late intervention forced a replay which will see the sides square off again this Friday evening, October 23rd at the Omagh venue (7.30pm).
