Four Roads captured their fifth consecutive Roscommon senior hurling championship title in dramatic fashion this afternoon as they edged past St Dominic’s (1-14 to 2-10) at Dr Hyde Park to claim their 39th county crown.
With the sides level deep into injury-time, substitute Oisin Finneran stepped up to fire over the winning point in the third minute of added time, ensuring the Mickey Cunniffe Cup remains in Tisrara for another year.
Four Roads looked comfortable at the break, leading 0-10 to 0-4, with Conor Morris scoring five points.
However, St Dominic’s mounted a spirited second-half comeback, with Naos Connaughton raising a green flag before points from Mickey Joe Egan and Colm Lyons helped them take the lead.
David Mannion’s superb goal brought Four Roads back into contention, but Jack Lohan found the net for Dominic’s to level matters. Nathan O’Connor then looked to have snatched victory for Dominic’s before late scores from Brian Mannion and Finneran settled a tense encounter.
