Carnew Emmets made it back-to-back Wicklow senior hurling championship titles with a 0-15 to 0-12 win over Glenealy in Aughrim this afternoon.
The points of Ken Cullen (two frees), Fionn Darcy, Eoin Kavanagh and Wayne Kinsella saw the holders opening up a 0-5 to 0-2 inside the opening 10 minutes of this decider.
Two Michael Óg O’Neill frees trimmed Glenealy deficit back to one ahead of Kavanagh and Cullen sailing over scores at the other end which moved Carnew towards a 0-10 to 0-6 at the half.
O’Neill helped Glenealy reduce the gap to the minimum once more, but the Emmets got motoring again and points by Cullen and Padraig Doran helped them to seal the deal.
The three-point victory now sees Carnew Emmets stretch their lead at the top of the SHC roll of honour list in the Garden County to 21 titles.
