Kilcormac-Killoughey survived a huge scare before eventually overcoming St Rynagh’s 1-34 to 2-23 after extra time in a thrilling Offaly senior hurling championship semi-final in Tullamore.
St Rynagh’s made the stronger start, with Darragh Scully firing home an early goal as they led 1-9 to 0-11 at half-time.
Daniel Hand’s goal helped K-K turn the game around, but St Rynagh’s battled back and Eoin Woods’ late free forced extra time at 1-20 apiece.
The holders finally pulled clear in extra time, outscoring St Rynagh’s by 0-14 to 1-3 as their opponents began to tire.
Adam Screeney was the star for K-K, finishing with a remarkable 0-16 tally, including six points from play, while Hand and Conor Slevin also made key contributions.
Kilcormac-Killoughey now advance to the Faithful County's SHC decider for the fifth year running after surviving one of their toughest tests of the championship.
