Castlebar Mitchels became the first team to book their place into the Mayo senior football championship final thanks to a 1-16 to 0-14 win over neighbours Breaffy this afternoon.

Joe Forry starred in the first-half for the 31-time champions, hitting 1-4 as they went on to lead by 1-11 to 0-7 at the halfway stage.

Mitchels stretched their lead after the change of ends prior to the scores of Conor O’Shea, Aidan O’Shea and Davitt Neary reducing the Breaffy deficit.

Jack Livingstone’s two-point free made it a four-point game late on, but Castlebar were able to see out the victory which books them into the Paddy Moclair Cup decider on the weekend of October 24/25th.

The other semi-final takes place this evening between Ballinrobe and Moy Davitts in Garrymore at 7.30pm.
