Flanagan to continue as Kildare football manager

Brian Flanagan will remain in charge of the Kildare senior footballers next year.
Kildare GAA has confirmed that the Johnstownbridge clubman is to continue as manager, despite a disappointing 2026 campaign which saw the Lilywhites suffer relegation from Division 2 of the Allianz League and endure championship defeats to Westmeath, Galway and Kerry. Their only championship win came against Laois in the Leinster SFC quarter-final.
Flanagan came under fire from delegates at the June county board meeting, but will be ratified for a third season at the September meeting next Tuesday.
"Brian Flanagan was appointed Kildare Senior Football Manager in 2024 on a four-year term," a county board statement read.
"Following a comprehensive review of the 2026 season, Brian Flanagan will continue as Kildare Senior Football Manager in 2027, with the full support of the Kildare GAA Executive and Management Committee.
"We wish Brian and the team the very best of luck in 2027."
