Injury forces Connolly into retirement

Former Cork forward Luke Connolly has been forced to hang up his boots at just 31.

The Echo is reporting that the Nemo Rangers clubman cannot continue playing due to a persistent knee problem. Connolly won five Cork SFC medals and two Munster Club SFC medals during his 12-year senior career, captaining Nemo in 2022 when his eight-point haul helped them to a 1-16 to 2-9 victory over city rivals St Finbarr’s in th county final.

A Sigerson Cup winner with UCC, Connolly represented Cork at all levels, winning a Munster MFC medal in 2010, two Munster U21 medals in 2012 and ’13, and a Division 3 League in 2020.
