The condition of the pitch at Hastings Insurance MacHale Park for last Sunday’s All-Ireland SFC clash with Louth has come under fire.
Despite a major resurfacing project taking place at the Castlebar venue last year, many supporters have taken to social media to complain about the state of the pitch. Mayo GAA chairman Seamus Tuohy explained last week that a combination of ‘over-use and bad weather’ since the pitch reopened meant that grass roots growth has been impacted.
There are reports that the pitch will host only one more game – the Mayo SFC final in October – this year in an effort to have it right for 2024.
MacHale Park looks great. Worth every penny that pitch. 😅 pic.twitter.com/PD6rQq3hUK
