Cork All-Ireland U20 winner O'Connor commits to rugby

Ben O’Connor confirmed that his future lies with rugby after helping Cork to their third All-Ireland U20HC title in four years at FBD Semple Stadium yesterday.

The multi-talented St Finbarr’s clubman and namesake of the Cork U20 manager is joining the Munster Academy, having won the Munster Schools Senior Cup with Presentation Brothers College Cork, and also represented Ireland at U19 level.

“I’m after deciding I’m going with the rugby so this was my last hurling game,” the 2021 All-Ireland MHC winning captain told reporters.

“I was delighted to finish on a high they’re all my best friends. and I couldn’t have picked a better group of lads.

“It meant everything, it meant the whole world to me. It was a very tough decision, but I was happy with the decision I made.”
