Tipperary hurling boss Liam Cahill is facing a four-week sideline ban after receiving a red card during the closing stages of last Sunday's drawn Munster SHC encounter with Limerick.

The ban has been proposed by the CCCC after Cahill was reported for alleged abusive comments to a match official after a sideline was awarded to Limerick when TV replays showed that it should have been awarded to Tipp instead.

If the suspension is enforced, Cahill will not be involved for this weekend's final round-robin game against Waterford or the Munster final on June 11 should Tipp reach it.

Tipperary GAA released a statement last evening confirmed that notification of the proposed suspension and match ban for Cahill was received.
