Donegal came from behind to defeat Clare by 0-14 to 0-9 in their All-Ireland senior football championship round robin opener in Ennis this afternoon.

Keelan Sexton and Pearse Lillis had led the charge for Clare as they took in a deserved 0-6 to 0-3 lead at half-time.

Playing in their first championship outing since last month’s Ulster quarter-final exit to Down, the Tir Chonaill men made better strides early in the second-half and points from Oisin Gallen, Ciaran Thompson and Caolan McGonagle would level matters at 0-7 apiece.

After that, the visitors really got motoring as Thompson and Gallen raised more white flags that saw them combine for 0-8 by the end and, with Clare reduced to just two scores during that period, it was Aidan O’Rourke’s men that took home the points.
