Dublin's Eamonn Dillon

Long-serving Dublin hurling star Eamonn Dillon has announced his inter-county retirement.

A knee injury has forced the Naomh Fionbarra clubman to hang up his hurl after a decade in the sky blue jersey. He made his senior debut agaisnt Dublin in the 2012 Allianz League and went on to win a Leinster SHC medal the following year, Dublin's first in 52 years.

The talented attacker also won a Leinster U21HC medal in 2011 after scoring 1-2 in the final against Wexford.

"I was sort of hoping to slip out the back door quietly and say nothing. Thanks to everyone for the well wishes... it wasn't an easy decision but the right one in the end," he tweeted.
