Offaly’s Kate Kenny lived up to her reputation as one of the GAA’s top dual stars by inspiring DCU Dóchas Éireann to their first O’Connor Cup success since 2018 last Saturday.

Kenny was named Player of the Match after scoring a phenomenal 1-10 in the Dublin students’ 3-14 to 1-13 victory over University of Limerick at the Connacht GAA Air Dome. She was joined on the winning team by her Naomh Ciaran clubmate and Offaly ladies captain Roisín Ennis.

Remarkably, it was Kenny’s third time to receive the Player of the Match award in a national final in different codes, having been similarly honoured following Naomh Ciaran’s 2019 All-Ireland intermediate ladies club success and St Rynagh’s 2020 All-Ireland intermediate camogie triumph. She also won camogie’s Ashbourne Cup with DCU Dóchas Éireann last year.

Surprisingly, Kate isn’t currently part of the Offaly ladies football or camogie squads, although that could soon change now that her college commitments have ended for another year.
