John Heslin has overtaken Dessie Dolan as Westmeath’s all-time leading scorer in championship football.

Despite having one of his quieter games against Cavan in last Saturday’s Tailteann Cup final, the St Loman’s sharpshooter’s tally of 0-3 was enough to move him to the top of the pile with a total of 5-162 (177), two points more than current selector Dolan on 4-163 (175).

Heslin and Dolan are way out of their own in the scoring charts with Denis Glennon coming next on 1-79 (82). Completing the top five are last Saturday’s match-winner Kieran Martin who has posted 8-37 (61) and Fergal Wilson with 1-57 (60).
