Cillian O’Connor made his long-awaited return for Mayo earlier today when coming off the bench in the Connacht champions’ Allianz League final defeat to Kerry.
The Ballintubber ace was introduced as a 55th minute substitute by manager James Horan, marking his first appearance for Mayo since the Achilles tendon injury he picked up against Clare in June 2021.
O’Connor struck a point from play a minute from injury-time which proved mere consolation as the Westerners fell to a 3-19 to 0-13 defeat in the end.
The former captain’s return was one of the few positives Mayo could take from Croker today.
