Cavan's Maggie Farrelly is poised to become the first woman to referee a men’s Allianz league match.

The Laragh United clubwoman, who will officiate in today's All-Ireland club JFC semi-final between Kilmeena (Mayo) and Clonbullogue (Offaly) at Pearse Park, has been added to the referees' national panel for 2022, along with Chris Maguire (Clare), Thomas Murphy (Galway), Jonathan Hayes (Limerick) and Kieran Eannetta (Tyrone).

Farrelly has been blazing a trail in the GAA since 2015 when she became the first woman to referee a men's inter-county fixture and broke new ground last November by taking charge of the Cavan SFC final replay.
