Mayo were in relentless form during the first-half of today’s Connacht senior football championship quarter-final against Sligo.
Leading 0-5 to 0-1 after 11 minutes at Markievicz Park, the defending champions landed their first goal when Aidan O’Shea burst through to raise the umpire’s green flag.
The big Breaffy man would back up his first championship goal in five years with another some 13 minutes later as James Horan’s men stamped their authority on the hosts.
Sligo couldn’t do much to stop the onslaught as Darren McHale’s goal went on to move the holders into a 3-13 to 0-8 lead at the break.
