John Kiely believes that there should be no rushed decision to try and resume GAA activity.

The All-Ireland winning Limerick manager was speaking as he was named RTE Sports Manager of the Year on Thursday night.

The Allianz leagues were due to start at the end of February but not it is likely it could be April before they commence. 

Kiely however, feels there should be no push to play games until circumstances in the country change regarding Covid-19: "Let’s take our time, get it right, and do what is best for the welfare of the players and everyone who is working around them, and what is socially accepted and socially needed.”

And looking back at what was achieved in a small timeframe last year give the Treaty manager encouragement that competitions can be completed in 2021.

“I think everybody in the GAA world knows that we got a really good deal in 2020. We got to play our club championships, we got to play our inter-county championships, and we’re only three weeks into the 2021 calendar year, we got all that done from July to Christmas last year, we still have 11 months left in 2021.”
