Connacht MFC: Strong first half sees 14-man Rossies past Galway

December 18, 2020

Roscommon will contest the 2020 Connacht MFC final after beating Galway at Bekan.

Roscommon 2-13

Galway 0-11

Roscommon booked a place in the Connacht MFC final after a strong first half laid the foundation for victory over Galway at Bekan this evening.

Emmet Durney's young guns led by 1-9 to 0-4 at half-time. The goal came on 5 minutes when Darren Gately drilled home after a superb team move, and Enda Colleran's frees kept them ticking over.

Then, on 44 minutes, the hard working Conor Hand fired to the net to make it 2-11 to 0-5 at the first water-break. The winners were reduced to 14-men shortly after, following a second yellow card for Alan McManus.

However, Galway were unable to make any inroads, despite playing with a numerical advantage as well as the elements. They hit four late points without reply but the Rossies had their work done.
