Games Based Training Sessions for Gaelic Football by Colm Nally

After the success of his first coaching manual back in 2018, Meath football coach Colm Nally is back with a second one - “Games Based Training Sessions for Gaelic Football”.

In today’s busy times coaches are always on the lookout for new ways to make their coaching sessions enjoyable and engaging for their players along with providing transferable practice.

“Games based training sessions” isn’t all games, it is situations that may occur in games and it is recreating aspects of games that allow a player get practice for those situations.

Newtown Blues clubman Nally’s 112-page new book can be used by coaches of all levels and ages and the activities and games are designed to be easily followed.

“The book is a collection of some of my favourite activities and games, some of which I have designed and others that have been shared by other coaches and some players I’ve met on my coaching journey,” the highly regarded coach writes in the introduction.

The book contains almost 80 activities and is organised in twenty-two coaching sessions so coaches can quickly follow a session or pick an activity from a few sessions to design their own.

In addition, readers will find some coaching tips, nutritional information and some work in the mental gym looking at self-talk and visual cues that may help a player remain focussed in training and in games.
