Limerick GAA have teamed up with local company Stream Sport Ireland to announce a new online streaming service that offers live coverage of county hurling and football championship matches.
Tomorrow evening's U21 hurling clash between Kilmallock and Doon will be the first match to be streamed live and accessible through the Limerick GAA TV link on the Limerick GAA website at a cost of €5.
For the senior hurling championship, the cost is €8 per game, the same as a normal admission fee. Limerick GAA are planning on airing over 30 live club matches as well as a highlights package each week. Club season ticket holders will be given free access to all fixtures from next weekend.
Limerick county board chairman John Cregan said: "Under current GDPR rules we are unable to offer the games streamed this weekend free of charge to existing season ticket holders, we will be contacting them in the coming days explaining how to activate their online pass."
"With in excess of 30 games expected to be streamed this season we are hoping to offer the user a simple hassle free experience and while they can not attend games we are hoping that this will be the next best thing."
"We are hoping clubs who record their games will send us the video of the game and we will work on putting a highlights package together each week to promote games that won’t be live streamed. We will be requesting the clubs assistance and will be hoping that this initiative will be supported."
