This Sunday marks the 10th anniversary of the tragic death of former Leitrim footballer Philly McGuinness.
Philly was playing for his beloved Mohill GAA in a league game in Annaduff when he was involved in an accidental collision. He sadly died at Beaumont Hospital two days later.
A key part of the Mohill team that claimed the Leitrim SFC in 2006, Philly lined out for the county in an Allianz League game against Limerick at the Gaelic Grounds on the previous weekend.
Mohill GAA renamed their home grounds Philly McGuinness Memorial Park in honour of their gifted clubman in the months after his passing.
To remember Philly on his 10th anniversary, Mohill GAA is calling on everyone to join them in lighting a candle for their number 10 at 10am and 10pm on Sunday.
The club is also raising funds for Acquired Brain Injury Ireland and all support towards this great cause is hugely appreciated.
