Jack Fagan celebrates after scoring a goal for Meath.

Meath's Jack Fagan scored 11 points, including nine in the second half, as De La Salle opened their Waterford SHC campaign with a 2-21 to 1-18 victory over Lismore at Fraher Field yesterday.

A wind-assisted Lismore led by 1-12 to 1-5 at half-time after Cormac McCann and Ray Barry traded goals. Maurice Shanahan top-scored with 0-12, including 0-6 from play, but the West Waterford outfit were overhauled in the closing stagtes when Eddie Meaney's 57th minute goal was followed by five unanswered points, three of which were scored by Rathmolyon native Fagan.

In the curtain-raiser, Gavin Crotty's injury-time point handed Dungarvan a 0-22 to 3-12 victory over Tallow. County star Tommy Ryan scored 3-6, but still finished on the losing side.
