Ferbane will field two senior football teams next year after being crowned Offaly intermediate champions yesterday.

Eight points from Dermot Daly helped Ferbane's second team to a 0-13 to 0-9 replay victory over St Brigid's, a week after their first team were comprehensively beaten by Rhode in the senior decider. The Ferbane second string are now promoted to the Offaly senior 'B' championship, which was introduced a couple of years ago.

For St Brigid's, there is the consolation of representing their county in the Leinster club JFC as second teams aren't permitted to play in the championship. The Croghan men will face St Vincent's of Meath next weekend who were also lost their county final to Dunboyne's second team a fortnight ago.
