Launch of retro jersey to mark centenary of Wexford four-in-a-row

April 30, 2018

Wexford GAA will launch a special, once-off replica jersey to mark the centenary of their famous All-Ireland SFC four-in-a-row.

This year marks the centenary of Wexford's famous All-Ireland SFC four-in-a-row.

In 1918, Wexford became the first county to complete the wonderful feat, which has been emulated just once since by Kerry (1978-'81). The centenary celebrations will kick off with the launch of a special, once-off replica jersey in the Talbot Hotel, Stillorgan tomorrow at 8pm. The event will double up as a GAA championship night which will feature a host of Wexford sporting heroes, including Matty Forde, Tadhg Furlong, Mathew O'Hanlon, Kevin Doyle, Jim Bolger and senior hurling manager Davy Fitzgerald.

A limited number of tickets, costing €20, will be available for purchase at the door.

Then on Saturday week, May 12, a range of events have been organised, including the publication of a special commemorative programme and the appearance of the current Wexford footballers in the replica purple and gold jersey, which was worn for the first time against Laois in 1913.
