Jamie Clarke's form will have Leitrim worried

Jamie Clarke was in sparkling form for New York on Thursday night as they fine-tuned their preparations for next weekend's Connacht SFC first round against Leitrim with a challenge match victory over All-Ireland club champions Corofin.

The former Armagh captain, who joined up with the Exiles earlier this year, was named man of the match following New York's 1-20 to 1-7 win at Gaelic Park. Tony Donnelly and David Culhane also impressed for the hosts against a Corofin side who may not have been at their sharpest after only arriving in the Big Apple a few hours earlier.

New York have never won a Connacht SFC game, but have come close to shocking Galway and Roscommon in recent years and will fancy their chances of ending their losing streak against a Leitrim side that managed just two wins in Division 4 of the Allianz League (their games against London and Waterford weren't played).

Ironically, Corofin and Galway star Michael Lundy, who played in the Connacht SFC for New York a couple of years ago and was a key organiser in the Andy Merrigan Cup holders' trip to the Big Apple, failed to finish the challenge after receiving a black card.
