GAA star wins boxing silver

The Glencar/Manorhamilton GAA club were celebrating this week as one of their own picked up a silver medal at the European Boxing Youth championships.
Déarbhla Rooney is a talented player with the Leitrim club, but the youngster has also shown that she is more than an accomplished boxer in Italy this week.
Fighting in the bantamweight division, Rooney looked impressive throughout the competition.
After impressively winning through three rounds, the Mullies youngster was beaten in her final by Slovakian Jessica Triebelova on Wednesday afternoon.
Rooney lost out on the scorecard of all five judges, despite another spirited showing, against a much taller opponent.
Déarbhla returned home to a hero's welcome in Manorhamilton last night (Thursday).
