James Horan was among those who was highly impressed by Patrick McBrearty in Donegal's defeat to Dublin tonight.
The brilliant Kilcar forward followed up on his 0-10 and 0-9 hauls in the first two rounds of the Allianz League with another virtuoso display against the All-Ireland champions which yielded 0-7, including 0-6 in the second half.
McBrearty's club-mate Ryan McHugh also came in for praise from Horan after Donegal's second half comeback fell narrowly short.
"Right from the second half, Donegal were strong," the former Mayo manager said on eir sport.
"Their main players stepped up - what a second half from Partick McBrearty after being starved [of the ball] in the first half. Ryan McHugh as well [was outstanding]. The amount of support work they did, and their overall general attitude was very good.
"They pushed up on the kick-outs, they went for it a little bit more, they were a bit more aggressive in what they tried to do.
"Declan Bonner will be disappointed, and Donegal are under pressure in Division 1 [after three defeats from three] but overall that was a really good performance and they are making progress as a team."
