Champions Maghery faced down Crossmaglen's challenge in last night's Armagh SFC second round clash at the Athletic Grounds.

The Sean McDermott's club, who lifted the Gerry Fegan Cup for the first time in their history last year, scored three second half goals to prevail on a 3-7 to 1-8 scoreline. The winners led by 0-4 to 0-3 at half-time, but a Jamie Clarke goal had Crossmaglen 1-5 to 0-4 ahead early in the second half before the James Lavery-inspired champions stormed back to take the win.

The defeat means it's the backdoor for Cross' who won 19 Armagh SFC titles in 20 years before last year's shock semi-final loss to Cullyhanna.
