Jamie Clarke’s no-show for Crossmaglen Rangers in yesterday's Armagh SFC clash with neighbours Silverbridge has led to speculation that he was withdrawn due to his involvement with Newry City.

It's understood that the former Armagh star was named to start, only to be left out and replaced by Seanie McConville. Clarke played no part in the game which Cross' won by 1-19 to 2-11 to qualify for the quarter-finals.

It raises questions about his future as a dual player, with his former Cross' team-mate Aaron Cunningham suggesting in a tweet that had been "banned" from playing for Crossmaglen because of his soccer commitments with Newry City. Clarke signed for the Danske Bank  Premership newcomers last month and had hoped to juggle both codes.
