Shane McCormack has been installed as the new Armagh ladies football manager.

The former Kildare goalkeeper steps up from the role of coach to replace Ronan Murphy, who resigned last month. Hailing from Allenwood - the same club as Kildare legend Johnny Doyle - McCormack was in goal when the Lilywhites were edged out by Down in the 2010 All-Ireland SFC semi-final.

Despite winning a three-in-a-row of Ulster Championships on Murphy's watch, the Orchard ply their trade in Division 2 of the Lidl Ladies National Football League and McCormack's first task will be to get them up the top tier. Ex-Armagh ladies 'keeper Denise Jordan, Joe Feeney, Stephen Sheerhan and Tony Reilly will also be part of the new management set-up.
