Armagh star Aidan Forker is in favour of dividing up the fixtures calendar between club and county.

Speaking to BBC Sport Northern Ireland, the versatile Maghery clubman highlighted the difficulties that the status quo presents for players.

“I made a decision early that I was going to put Armagh number one anytime I’m there,” he remarked. “We have the opportunity now when I’m with Maghery, Maghery is number one and my preparation and everything I do is geared towards that.

“I think it’s a brilliant model, I think the GPA has put out a brilliant model that the GAA really has to consider.”

He added: “Looking at the players and players being able to commit to one thing or another. I think there is scope there definitely to condense the inter-county season and I think everyone would welcome that.”
