Kilkenny cruised to their second win in this year’s Leinster senior hurling championship by seeing off Antrim on a 5-31 to 3-20 at Corrigan Park this afternoon.

The Cats did most of their damage during the opening half in west Belfast, hitting 2-2 in the first four minutes to rock their opponents.

Martin Keoghan registered a hat-trick of goals inside the opening 31 minutes for the holders while talisman TJ Reid bagged the other as they went in at half-time with an unassailable 4-16 to 1-7 half-time lead.

Conor Johnston’s goal gave Antrim the perfect start to the second-half and veteran Neil McManus would lash in another five minutes later as the Saffrons’ deficit was eventually reduced to 10 points.

Reid and Eoin Cody were among those that kept the points coming for the Cats after that and the former would rifle in his second goal with four minutes to go.

It means Derek Lyng’s men are on five points in the Leinster SHC table along with Galway and Dublin ahead of next Saturday’s fourth round clash against the capital men at Nowlan Park (6pm).
