Competitive GAA games will return on 17 July.

Two neighbouring clubs in Derry are temporarily shut down amid concerns over Covid 19 cases in the local community.

St Mary's Banagher GAC and St Joseph's Craigbane GAC have both taken the decision to suspend all activities as a precautionary measure until further notice.

Chairman of St Mary's Banagher GAC Justin Quirk said in a statement that there had been no confirmed cases among club members.

"Due to Covid 19 cases in the local community, the club as a precautionary measure have decided to suspend all activities in the short term," a statement reads on the St Mary’s GAC Banagher Facebook page.

"We will advise further in the next 24 hours.

"We are not aware of any players, managers or club officials that have the virus."

St Joseph's Craigbane GAC also issued a statement this evening to explain their stance on the matter.

"Due to a Covid 19 case in the local community, the club as a precautionary measure have decided to suspend all activities in the short term apart from the walkway which will remain open but subject to guidelines currently in place. Updates will be posted as the situation changes."
