Wyer takes up Tullamore role

February 12, 2010
Former Offaly senior hurler Vinny Wyer is the man charged with leading Tullamore in the defence of their senior hurling championship crown this year.

Wyer takes over from Kevin Martin, who was named the manager of the Westmeath hurlers before Christmas, even though he expressed a wish to continue in his role with Tullamore.

The town team bridged a 35-year gap when winning the Offaly SHC last year and their year went from strength to strength after that as they reached the Leinster club final where they were beaten by Ballyhale Shamrocks.

Wyer will be joined in the Tullamore management team by two of last year's selectors Damien Fox, who plays in goals and Alo Lawlor.
